CHEVRON ANNOUNCES $500 MILLION UNIT IN PASCAGOULA

Chevron U.S.A. Inc. said today it plans to build a $500 million gasoline production unit at its Pascagoula refinery that will increase gasoline production by 10 percent, or about 600,000 gallons per day.

"The project also will provide about 700 new construction jobs in addition to the 150 jobs we already have added at the facility over the past two years," Roland Kell, Pascagoula Refinery general manager, said in a news release.

Environmental permits are in place, and construction of the Continuous Catalyst Regeneration Project is scheduled to begin in early 2008 with completion anticipated by mid-2010. The unit will improve equipment reliability and utilization and allow the refinery to optimize product yields, according to the news release. ...

The Pascagoula Refinery, Chevron's largest wholly owned petroleum refinery, has the capacity to process an average of 330,000 barrels of crude oil per day as well as a variety of transportation fuels and other refined products.
