PUBLIC SCHEDULE FOR INAUGURAL ACTIVITIES ANNOUNCED
(JACKSON, Mississippi) – The Governor’s Inaugural Committee today announced the public schedule for the inauguration of Mississippi’s 64th Governor, Haley Reeves Barbour. Inauguration events, under the theme “’08 Moving Forward Together,” will include a prayer breakfast, official swearing in ceremony, parade, tour of the Governor’s Mansion, and an inaugural ball.
Tickets for these events are available to the public and can be reserved by calling the Inaugural Committee’s Direct Ticket Line at (601) 984-3678, or requests can be faxed to (601) 326-0078. Upon reservation, tickets will be located at Will Call at the South Entrance to the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday, January 11, and Monday, January 14. Beginning Tuesday, January 15, Will Call will be located at the North Entrance of the Coliseum, with tickets available for pickup from 9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
When Governor Barbour received 58.2 percent of the vote in the 2007 general election, he became only the second governor since Reconstruction to be elected to a second consecutive term as Mississippi’s Chief Executive. Mississippians are encouraged to attend the Governor’s historic inauguration ceremony, which occurs on the South steps of the New Capitol on January 15, 2008, beginning at 11 a.m.
