TRAILER MANUFACTURER OPENING UP SHOP IN PRENTISS
A company that makes flatbed cargo trailers is opening a new plant in Prentiss and the manufacturer says it will bring dozens of new jobs to the small town.
Company officials say Extreme Trailers will initially add 20 to 30 new jobs for welders, carpenters, sheet metal hangers, truck drivers and sales associates.
Company owner Jimmy Chapman said he hopes to do $3 million in first-year sales, producing 18 to 20 of the cargo trailers a day. The company hopes to employee up to 60 people in about a year.
Mayor Charley Dumas said the company signed a lease with the city of about 1,100 residents on Friday ... [and will be located in ] a 44,625-square-foot building in the city's Longleaf Business Park.
In August, a North Carolina company announced it would open a modular home manufacturing facility in Prentiss, which is located in south Mississippi. Coastal Modular Building Systems plans an initial work force of 50 and expects to grow to around 100 employees.
