ESI GETS TOYOTA BOSHUKU ENGINEERING PACT
Engineering Solutions Inc. of Pontotoc has been selected for the first phase of site preparation for the Toyota Boshoku America site in Itawamba County.
The $80 million plant will supply the main Toyota plant being built near Blue Springs.
ESI is charged with the development of site engineering and project management, including clearing Toyota Boshoku's site and preparing it for drainage.
"ESI is a local, qualified firm, and their selection builds on our commitment to the local communities as we develop and build our Mississippi plant, said Kiyoshi "Nate" Furuta, chairman and CEO of TBA. ...
'Pleased, excited'
Randy Hathcock, vice president of ESI said the company is "very pleased and excited to have been chosen to provide engineering services for the Toyota Boshoku America Itawamba County site" and "looks forward to being a part of the development of the Toyota industry in Northeast Mississippi."
In August, Toyota Boshoku America announced plans to build a new 341,000 square -foot plant located on 40 acres in an industrial park off Highway 78 near the Dorsey community
The Toyota Boshoku America Mississippi plant is expected to employ some 500 workers and be operational by 2010.
A wide range of employees will be needed for the plant, from material handling to production workers, engineers and plant administration personnel. Hiring is expected to begin in 2008. The plant will become the largest manufacturing employer in Itawamba County.
TBA also announced that it had picked Tupelo native Mike Mitchell to lead its human resources team at the Itawamba facility.
Mitchell is a Tupelo resident and certified human resource management professional, and brings vast experience and education to TBA and its Itawamba County facility.
Tom Suter, vice president at Toyota Boshoku America said Mitchell "has extensive expertise in human resources, and is actively involved in the local community."
"Mitchell is the perfect candidate to help hire the best and most qualified team members that the Northeast Mississippi region has to offer," Suter said.
Before joining TBA, Mitchell spent 12 years with Cooper Tire and Rubber Co. in Tupelo. ...
