BARBOUR WINS EAGLE AWARD
The National Association of State Workforce Agencies (NASWA) has given its top award for distinguished service to American employers and workers to Gov. Haley Barbour.
The Eagle Award, given annually to the individual deemed to have done the most to promote and improve workforce development and job training, was presented to Barbour by Mary Katherine Smith, a Yalobusha County teacher, and Michael Gator, director of human resources and learning and development at the Comcast Advanced Solutions Center in Madison. ...
Jay Moon, CEcD FM, president and CEO of the Mississippi Manufacturers Association, says, "I think this NASWA Eagle Award is particularly appropriate for our governor. Gov. Barbour has made workforce development a cornerstone of his policy and action since he became Mississippi's governor in 2004. He has mobilized all the available resources and talent, locally and nationally in both the public and private sectors, to make workforce development in Mississippi a success."
